So I bought this ill-fitting piece to get an extra power cord for my phone. Never could get it to fit. Wires that connected to back end of socket were about 2" short of connection. No way this was working. I could just leave it hanging there but I didn't like the fact I needed to add another adaptor. Anyway, this is not an option in it's current form.

Wondering if the lead wires that connected to the socket could be set up to accept a battery tender type hook up. That way I could run that off of those wires to my usb connection for my phone. The usb is a Battery Tender item. I don't have a wiring diagram but guessing that connection is hot.

BTW - I had a battery tender hooked up to the battery that had the usb plug in. For some reason, which I documented in another thread, the ground connection was causing issues I could never resolve. When the ground was hooked up I would slowly lose a connection and it would eventually not turn over. I remove the ground from the battery tender part and everything is fine. Could not figure out what was causing this issue but just took off that connection.

I curious, was the ill fitting part from triumph?.
I bought that part and run my heated gear running off a bmw style adapter. From that I ran a Y cable BMW to sae for more power. As for the ground, damaged wire, battery posts, ground to the bike. Maybe get a new cable for your tender

It was the triumph part. It was close to 2" short of making the connection once I put the bracket on the switch housing. Did you have any problems? Something is not right if it is that far apart. I could not get any more slack in the wire connection.

I have a 2012 built 9-2011. I didn't have a problem and don't remember the leads length. What ever you decide to do I would shrink wrap the wires to prevent corrosion

I recall having a similar issues. I had to reroute the harness, remove some of the tape that bound it together with other wires.
It was still barley long enough, but it worked out.

After 6 years of big money and time I think its time to ride and maintain it. I am sure we are all in the same boat, but its slack tide for me. Keep the ideas coming

Why not bring a USB port out of the headlight bucket? I used power from the "parking" light - it has a 5-amp fuse and is switched thru ignition.
